For the fourth year in a row, Main Street Gallery is thrilled to welcome back ALL THAT GLITTERS 2025: A METALSMITH COLLECTIVE. The group of seven jewelry artists, all of whom work in silver, include returning guest artists, Alexa Matthai, Chuck McMillin and Wanda Jester. The three guests will be joined by MSG member jewelers Cindy Ayd, Robin Morgan, Linda Starling and Barbara Trower, who also works in glass.
A special feature of the now annual jewelry show is that everything in ALL THAT GLITTERS is locally made as all seven members of the collective live and create their work in regions around the Bay. Among the many pieces on view, a visitor might find jewelry made with sea glass tumbled in the Bay and its tributaries as well as pieces that reference the flora and fauna of the Eastern Shore.
Linda Starling, who is a member of Main Street Gallery and who specializes in beach glass and silver jewelry, recalls when she came up with the idea of a holiday show with a group of her Bay area jeweler colleagues back in early 2022. She invited them to be guest artists that year and to her delight they were all in on the idea and the original ALL THAT GLITTERS was born! That first show was so successful that the group decided to try it again in 2023 and again in 2024. “Now it is 2025 and I am very excited to welcome back my talented jewelry friends for a fourth year!” says Linda. "I’ve said for the past three years and now for the fourth that visitors to ALL THAT GLITTERS 2025 will be hard pressed not to find something they love for themselves or for someone special." Linda adds that the jewelry collective members are continually honing their metalsmithing skills as well as learning new skills so the work in each show is unique.
On Friday, October 31, ALL THAT GLITTERS opens at the Gallery at 518 Poplar St. in Cambridge. The holiday show will also include artwork by the gallery’s seven member artists and will run through December 28. There will be two artist receptions on Second Saturdays November 8 and December 13 from 5-8 pm with a brief artist talk at each reception. The receptions are free and all are invited. Light refreshments will be served. Main Street Gallery is open Fridays through Sundays from 11-5 and online shopping is always available at mainstgallery.net. The Gallery, located in Cambridge’s thriving arts and entertainment district, is the City’s only artist owned and operated cooperative and has been downtown for over 14 years. The Gallery is currently reviewing work by prospective members and guest artists.
