Abellard named TidalHealth Peninsula Regional’s 1st Quarter 2025 Monarch Awardee

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Marie-Ange Abellard is its 1st Quarter 2025 Monarch Award recipient. This award recognizes TidalHealth phlebotomists for their dedication, compassion, commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients, and service excellence through their actions.

Abellard was nominated by her co-workers for the compassion and exemplary service she provided to a recent TidalHealth patient: 

“I shared a moment with Marie when she was drawing labs on a patient who only spoke Haitian-Creole. Marie was the only one who could get labs from the patient that day.

The patient was frustrated and confused and did not want to leave because she did not understand the discharge plan. She also had questions about her medications, condition, and follow-up doctor appointments. The interpreter over the phone was not communicating well with the patient, so I called the lab to see if Marie was working that night and if she could come help communicate important information to the patient.

Marie helped make the patient feel safe going home and helped her understand her discharge plan. Without Marie's help, this patient may not have been discharged that evening.”
