Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. (CWDI) started July with a literal bang when it hosted a viewing of the Cambridge City July 4th fireworks at the Waterfront Park at Cambridge Harbor. Hooked on Seafood, Bayside Hotdogs, Chilly Billy's Ice Cream, Travelin' Tom's Coffee, Kona Ice, and Nibbles N Bits were local food vendors on site for this successful event.
“We were excited to encourage the public to use the space and loved seeing how much of our community came to enjoy the food trucks and have fun with their friends and family before watching the fireworks,” said CWDI president Angie Hengst.

Those attending also likely got to see that Phase One of the Waterfront Promenade is more than half complete. The promenade is the first public amenity of the overall project and will serve as the pedestrian access pathway along the length of the property adjacent to the Choptank River. It will connect with the wharf and is projected to be open to the public in late summer.
As that construction work continues, the Waterfront Park open space is available for use now. Community members are invited to use the area for informal activities like dog walking, picnics, kite flying, and more. If anyone is interested in hosting any formal events, festivals, or activities there, they may reach out to Angie directly at angie.hengst@cwdimd.org.
In the meantime, CWDI’s volunteer board is now fully seated with the addition last month of a final City of Cambridge appointee, Bernard Brathwaite. This board has planned for a series of public meetings to help keep the community informed, along with regular press releases like this one. This approach will help create an important interface between residents, stakeholders, and the organization as plans are finalized and the exciting development of Cambridge Harbor progresses.
