On November 19, 1863. President Abraham Lincoln made "a few appropriate remarks" at the dedication of the Soldiers National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. These "remarks" became known as the Gettysburg Address and is now considered one of the most important speeches in American History. An anniversary reading of the Gettysburg Address will be given at noon on the November 19, 2025, on the steps of the historic Meredith House on the grounds of the Dorchester County Historical Society at 1003
