You Don’t Know Nothin’ Bout Groove City
WHCP Community Radio presents You Don't Know Nothin' Bout Groove City, a documentary film delving into the history of Cambridge and Dorchester County from the 1920’s to the early 1980's when Cambridge became known as "Groove City."
The documentary will debut with a showing at 6 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the Dorchester Center of Arts in Cambridge. The film explores Cambridge’s musical history from the Chitlin circuit, launched in the 20’s, to the D.J. and later Hip Hop movements of the 70’s, and uses Dorchester's long and illustrious musical history to explore the racial tensions among the citizenry and how a small group of diverse people willing to have difficult conversations are set on healing old wounds.
