The Wild Goose Chase Women’s Bicycle Ride takes place on and around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge near Cambridge, MD, on the scenic Eastern Shore on September 10 and 11, 2022. There are rides for women of all cycling levels (22, 31, 39, and 63 miles). On Saturday will be bike mechanic workshops and nature activities, and the main ride will be on Sunday, and includes a buffet lunch, t-shirt, and other goodies with your registration fee. We have SAG on each route and the best rest stops around that are staffed by awesome volunteers. 39 and 63 milers may start at 7am. We ask, nicely of course, if others would wait until 7:45 a.m. to avoid congestion and aid with setting up rest stops. We are in an area affected by rising sea levels so be prepared to start a little later if there is water on the road in the morning.
Women bicyclists from all over the Mid-Atlantic and beyond converge on Dorchester County to ride in the Wild Goose Chase Women’s Bicycle Ride. Cyclists can ride along low-traffic scenic county roads in and around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). Since women’s bicycling pioneer Georgena Terry created the event in 2008, the Wild Goose Chase has raised over $175,000 for the Friends of Blackwater, which has used the funds to support numerous Refuge projects.
