Talk: Medicine Hill Farm

South Dorchester Folk Museum Presents "South Dorchester's Medicine Hill Farm"
Speakers: Carol Maurer & Annie Noel Applegarth

Medicine Hill circa 1790 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The historic property includes: The J. E. Applegarth Store and Post Office, the John E. Applegarth Farm, and Dr. Robert Tubman’s home and office. It is the ancestral home of the Applegarth family on the Eastern Shore. The historic 196-acre rural farm complex, including its 12 buildings is situated on the corner of Hoopers Island & Smithville Roads.

Carol and Annie (Applegarth descendants) will give a brief overview of the land, history, businesses, and people who lived on the property during the last 200+ years. The talk will include photos, objects from the family’s collections and time for Q&A.

The South Dorchester Folk Museum (SDFM), in cooperation with the Dorchester County Historical Society, presents this FREE program in its lecture series about local history. For more information about the SDFM, visit our website, www.sdfmuseum.net, or call 410-228-6175.
