The South Dorchester Folk Museum presents:
"Call Me Cousin George - A Personal Look at the Life of Senator George L. Radcliff"
Presented by George M. Radcliffe, Jr.
George Radcliffe, author of a recently published book on his grandfather, will share highlights and stories from the life of Senator George L. Radcliffe, a Dorchester native. Senator Radcliffe was a 2 term United State senator, officer of the Maryland Historical Society for 60 years, close friend of Franklin Roosevelt, key figure in the March of Dimes, and accomplished genealogist. He was a lifetime historical preservationist involved in many projects including Old Trinity Church and Grace Church on Taylors Island.
George M. Radcliffe, Jr. is the grandson of Senator George L. Radcliffe. He is a retired science teacher, having worked for both Dorchester and Queen Anne's County School Systems for 39 years. He currently serves as President of the Spocott Windmill Foundation and is youth coordinator for the Maryland Ornithological Society. As the last living Radcliffe who knew Sen. Radcliffe personally, George felt that recording the life and stories of this remarkable Dorchester Countian was a necessity.
The South Dorchester Folk Museum (SDFM), in cooperation with the Dorchester County Historical Society, presents this FREE program in its lecture series about local history. For more information about the SDFM, visit our website, www.sdfmuseum.net, or call 410-28-6175.
