SDFM Presents "Powell Horsman"

The South Dorchester Folk Museum Presents: "Powell Horsman: Life of a Farmer, Waterman, Boatbuilder, Storekeeper at Henry's Crossroads"
Speaker: Tom Bradshaw
Tom Bradshaw was born and raised in Golden Hill. He came from a long line of watermen, farmers, and trappers. He has been a storekeeper, school bus driver, and a Dorchester County Councilman. He lives in Reid’s Grove with his wife Donna.
Powell Horsman was born on what today is known as Blackwater Refuge. In 1904 after being turned off the Zeb Mitchell farm, he and his family moved to the Henry's Crossroads area to a farm on the Nanticoke River. Over the years Powell farmed with his father and brothers, worked on the water eventually becoming a storekeeper and boatbuilder at Henry's Crossroads. Learn about life at the Crossroads, the history and stories of the area.
The South Dorchester Folk Museum (SDFM), in cooperation with the Dorchester County Historical Society, presents this FREE program in its lecture series about local history. For more information about the SDFM, visit our website, www.sdfmuseum.net, or call 410-228-6175.
