A reflective journey, with a brief observance of the “Stations of the Cross,” conducted at each of the seven stops along the walk route.
The Walk is patterned after the ancient liturgy for the “Stations of the Cross.” A brief, ten minute observance will be conducted at each of the seven churches along the walk route, with clergy and laity from various churches participating.
This year’s route will include the following churches:
Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust Street,
Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church, 425 High St
Bethel A. M. E. Church, 623 Pine St
Cambridge Wesleyan Church, Race and Washington Streets
Grace United Methodist Church, Race and Muir Streets
The River, 415 Academy Street, and
Christ Episcopal Church, 215 High St.
The Walk of the Cross is intended to be an opportunity for spiritual renewal - a meditative, reflective observance, as we walk from stop to stop. Along the walk route, various persons will have opportunity to carry the cross part of the way. All seven church locations are accessible, and bus transportation will be available for those needing/desiring it. The Cambridge Police Department will provide escort assistance.
The "Walk of the Cross" is sponsored by The Dorchester Faith Alliance.
