Chamber Challenge Fun Pickleball Tournament
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED for 2021
The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd Annual Chamber Challenge Fun Pickleball Tournament at the Glasgow Courts - 1401 Glasgow Street, Cambridge, MD.
Please read this before proceeding to register your team.
The objective of this tournament is for participants to have fun and for the Chamber to raise funds for Scholarships. As a result, it may be a little different than other tournaments you have played.
We start the registration process with the possibility of 9 different brackets of round robin play. They are Women, Men & Mixed for each skill grouping of Beginner (2.5-3.0), Intermediate (3.5 - 4.0) and Advanced (4.5-5.0). However, our goal is to have at least 5 teams per bracket to allow you more games to play so depending on the mix of teams that register we may have less brackets. We will combine brackets as needed to get to a good level of play. At the inaugural event we ended up with only 4 brackets of play. Hopefully, this year being our second tournament, registrations will go up and we will have more brackets of play.
We will create the brackets and notify all players of the brackets and schedule of play on Tuesday, September 28th via the email you enter during registration. We will also use the email address to notify you of any changes due to weather. We had to shift a week in 2019 due to rain. The time of your scheduled play will be determined at the time the brackets are set.
It will be a round robin tournament, and you will play every team in your bracket. The winning teams will be determined by the number of wins versus losses and if needed by the points scored versus given. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.
Registration fee is $90 for each team. The registration fees are used to cover the costs of the tournament and lunch for each participant. Any excess funds are donated to the scholarship fund.
This year you will register as a team - both team members are entered at the same time. After you save you can use the head and shoulders icon to edit any information entered about your team before you go to next. You will identify your team as women, men or mixed and pick the team skill level during registration. If anyone on your team has special dietary needs please indicate that during registration. If paying the $90 fee for the team instead of paying per player creates a major payment issue for you, please let us know and we will work with you to process two separate $45 payments. However, we still want you to register as a team, please select the invoice me option and give us a call to discuss payment options if not paying full $90 fee. We prefer credit card payment at time of registration but if you are splitting the payments or paying by check, payment must be made a least one week before the tournament.
The proceeds from this event will be used to fund the Jason T. Wise and Gerry Boyle Scholarships. Click here to learn more about the Chamber Scholarship Program.
