“Empowering Caregivers” is the theme of MAC’s Alzheimer’s & Dementia Caregivers Conference to be held virtually on Tuesday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The focus of the conference is empowering caregivers and healthcare professionals with strategies, inspiration and resources that will bolster their efforts to care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia during these truly challenging times. The keynote speaker is Dr. Rebecca Edelmayer, senior director, Scientific Engagement for the Alzheimer’s Association. She will share the latest in research and treatments both pharmacological as well as lifestyle. Other sessions bring a wealth of knowledge and offer practical applications for dealing with communications, grief and working with your health care team. Other sessions will include: • The Long Goodbye • Communication Tips for a Clinical Setting • Taking Charge of Your Care Team • COVID-19 and Health, Well-Being and Cognition of Older Adults: Tragedy and Resilience • Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s Disease
The conference is being hosted by MAC, Your Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with the Administration for Community Living, Eastern Shore Area Health Center, Alzheimer’s Association, and the University of Maryland Graduate School Geriatrics & Gerontology Education and Research Program.
